What is Honey and Awards?

Honey is Hornet’s virtual currency. You can buy Honey and use it to send Awards to creators you appreciate. When you give an Award, you’re supporting their content and helping it get noticed in the feed.

Honey also works like a small in-app economy. You can purchase it, use it, receive it back when others award you, and spend it again on other creators.

How Honey works

You can purchase Honey from the App Store, Play Store, or our web shop. Your Honey Wallet appears on your profile as a small rainbow hexagon. Tapping it will show your balance and let you buy more.

Here’s how the flow works:

  • Buy Honey from the web shop or app store.
  • Find a Moment, a video, or a live stream you enjoy.
  • Tap the Award icon and choose the Award you want to send.
  • The cost of the Award is deducted from your Honey balance.
  • The creator automatically receives the same amount of Honey. (Live Streams follow slightly different rules, explained in our Hornet Live support articles.)
  • Any Honey you earn from others stays in your wallet and can be used to award more creators.

Honey can’t be transferred directly to another profile, but using it to send Awards is how you support creators on Hornet.

Why use Honey

Sending an Award is:

  • An easy and secure way to show appreciation.
  • A way to highlight great content in the feed.
  • Motivation for creators to keep sharing what the community enjoys.

Cashing out (Live Streamers)

Streamers have an additional benefit. When you receive Awards while streaming:

  • You earn Awards in the form of Diamonds.
  • Diamonds can be converted into real money.
  • More Awards lead to higher earnings.
  • Extra rewards can be unlocked through the Hornet Live Milestones Program.
